Registered Speech-Language Pathologist
Lisa Drake, M.Cl.Sc., CCC-SLP, S-LP(C)
Lisa Drake is a Speech-Language Pathologist at the New Path Child and Adolescent Psychology Centre. She completed her Masters of Clinical Science at the University of Western Ontario and has been registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario since 2003. She is also a member of Speech-Language and Audiology Canada, the American Speech and Hearing Association, and the Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
Lisa has extensive experience working with preschoolers, school aged children, and their families in home, school, and private practice settings in both Canada and the United States. She has provided assessments, treatment, and consultation to preschoolers, children, parents, and school board professionals for a broad range of communication challenges including language delays and disorders including delayed language acquisition and challenges with appropriate and correct language use. She also has extensive experience assessing and treating articulation, motor speech challenges, and language needs related to Autism Spectrum Disorders. Lisa also has experience implementing augmentative and alternative communication systems for children who have expressive communication challenges. Lisa strongly believes that parents are a critical component in facilitating development of important communication and language milestones in their children. Through her collaborative working relationship with parents she assists them in understanding the development of communication and language skills and how they can be a catalyst of developing new paths of communication.
Lisa is trained and experienced in using the PROMPT method with her clients and is certified in the Hanen’s More Than Words®, It Takes Two to Talk, Target Word, and TalkAbility Programs. As former Program Director for Autism Services at The Hanen Centre®, Lisa rewrote and updated the More Than Words® program which teaches parents strategies to facilitate interaction and communication development in their children. She is also committed in disseminating her knowledge regarding the More Than Words® program, communication, and language development through presentations and workshops to speech-language pathologists, other professionals, and parents.
